Ho Tzu Nyen

Ho Tzu Nyen (Singapore,1976) works primarily in film, video, and performance that focus on the region of Southeast Asia. His works investigate the construction of history, the narrative of myth, and the plurality of identities and has recently developed environmental multimedia installations. He holds a BA in creative arts from the Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne) and an MA in Southeast Asian studies from the National University of Singapore. His first feature film, HERE, premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2009. His work has been widely exhibited with solo exhibitions at Kunstverein (Hamburg), McaM (Shanghai), TPAM (Yokohama). He participated in the 54th Venice Biennale, Sharjah Biennial 14 and Gwangju Biennale and in international film festivals including the Sundance Film Festival. He was a resident at Asia Art Archive, Hong Kong (2017) and was the recipient of the Grand Prize of the Asia Pacific Breweries Foundation Signature Art Prize (2015) and a DAAD scholarship in Berlin (2014–2015). He lives and works in Singapore.
